Wayne NJ Offers Same Day Dental Crowns with CEREC

Same Day Dental Restorations At Wayne Dental Arts

Very few of us have perfect teeth, and sometimes when patients visit our Wayne NJ dental office a filling or dental crown is the required treatment.

Traditional dental fillings are made of metal material and can in time weaken the tooth, or accumulate additional decay under or around the filling itself.

CEREC Dental Restorations Wayne NJ DentistLuckily for our patients, Wayne NJ CEREC dentist Dr. Frank Malondado has a modern solution to the problems of inferior dental filling materials and the time involved with traditional treatment of dental fillings or dental crowns.

What is CEREC?

CEREC is an acronym that stands for:

  • Chairside: The technology is in the dental operatory and used while you are in the chair
  • Economical: The procedure is economical for both dentist and patient
  • Restorations: The procedure restores your tooth to its natural beauty, function, and strength
  • Esthetic: The restorations are metal-free and tooth-colored
  • Ceramic: High-strength ceramics are used that are close in composition to your natural tooth structure

CEREC is for an advanced dental restorative system that allows Dr. Maldonado to restore decayed teeth, place crowns, remove defective amalgam fillings, or place cosmetic veneers – often times in just one single dentist appointment.

This allows our Passaic County dental patients to have the highest quality, most lifelike dental restorations in just one visit to the dentist…in, out, and on with your busy life!

What Is The CEREC Procedure?

CEREC is a method used by thousands of dentists worldwide since 1987. Dentists use CEREC to not only to replace old or worn out fillings, but also to restore any tooth that is decayed, weakened, broken, or chipped to its natural strength and beauty.

CEREC dental restorations are done with all-ceramic materials that are designed to match the color of your existing teeth – and most restorations are performed in just one visit to our Wayne NJ dentist office.

CEREC Exam and Preparation – What’s Involved?

First, Dr. Maldonado examines your tooth and determines the appropriate treatment that is necessary. Whether this calls for a a simple dental filling, or a full dental crown, Dr. Maldonado will first determine how much of the available tooth structure remains healthy.

Next, Dr. Maldonado administers an anesthetic and prepares your tooth for the restoration, removing decayed and weakened tooth tissue. This preparation is just like he would do for many other restorative dentistry techniques.

Optical Impression – What’s That?

Following the exam and prep work, Dr. Maldonado then takes what is called an “Optical Impression” of the prepared tooth.

This is basically exactly what it sounds like.

Instead of filling an impression tray with what some patients call “goop,” Dr. Maldonado instead coats the tooth with a non-toxic, tasteless powder.

And here comes the optical part…an intra-oral camera is then used to take a digital picture of your tooth. While it may sound like a futuristic procedure in and of itself, this whole “Optical Impression” process really only takes a minute or two.
